The primary source of federal funding for water infrastructure projects in the United States, composed of the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (DWSRF) and the Clean Water State Revolving Fund (CWSRF). Funded through annual Congressional appropriations and administered by individual states, SRFs provide low-cost financing, typically in the form of loans, to water utilities and local governments. These funds support a wide range of projects, including treatment system upgrades, pipe replacement, and new infrastructure for drinking water, wastewater, and stormwater management.
